Recognition and Awards
We're aware that students at Greenwich do loads of fantastic things outside their course, volunteering both with the Students' Union and a massive range of external organisations in the community, and we want to give you a chance to get recognition for the amazing things you undertake. To outline your outstanding commitment to volunteering, the GSCV will hopefully give you genuine recognition, and help you land your dream job after you graduate by making you stand out from the rest!
The GSCV has 4 levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold Plus, and is earned through logging your hours and skills via the Toolkit, and completing reflective reviews about your volunteering.
The reflective reviews are verbal (Silver Award) and written (Gold and Gold Plus Awards), and are designed to help you relate your volunteering experience to interview and job application situations.
We also appreciate the value of community volunteering, to both volunteers and the organisations themselves. This is why we have added the new Gold Plus award, which requires 40 hours of community hours before it is completed.
The GSCV has 4 levels, each of which you can only reach once you have completed the level before. You can work on completing the certificates over all of the time you spend at Greenwich, and the criteria below are just minimum amounts - we encourage you to log as many skills and hours as you want for your personal skills record!
All GSCV award recipients will be invited to Union Awards, receiving a free ticket, to collect your certificates!
If you have any questions, for example if what you are doing counts as eligible volunteering or which employability skills your volunteering covers, then you can check out the FAQ page or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To celebrate 2017's National Student Volunteering Week we've launched a rewards system for the GSCV awards.
All student volunteers will now be eligable for a different reward every time you reach a new GSCV award. The rewards for each GSCV award are:
Bronze: University of Greenwich branded Keyring
Silver: University of Greenwich branded Mug OR note pad
Gold: £10 voucher for use at Bar Latitude, Sparrows, or the Village Shop) OR an NUS card
Gold Plus: University of Greenwich branded Hoodie OR Proud to Be branded Hoodie
Exceptional Achiever's List: This is a list of a handful of Volunteers who have achieved an exceptional number of hours volunteering. They will recieve a letter of achievement and recommendation from the CEO, and career and transferable skills coffee with the CEO.
Make sure you get logging your hours, and then watch out for the email which will confirm your new GSCV award and how to claim your reward.
For February, March, April and May 2017 we'll also be holding a monthly prize draw for a £20 Amazon Voucher for anyone who logs hours that month, so keep logging and checking your emails!
*All rewards are only guarenteed to be availible until Union Awards 2017 (23rd May). Rewards and Prize Draws will be reviewed over the Summer break, and may continue if they are a priority of the new Volunteering and Communities Officer.
