How long have you been involved in sport?

I started "swimming lessons" when I was four months old, really that was just getting use to being (dunked) in the water. But I've been involved in a crazy number of sports since primary school all the way up now, so I guess you could say 19 years and 8 months!

Best thing about being part of a sport or sports team?

You're doing and working towards something that is simply for the health and benefit of yourself, and nothing feels better than that. Doing this with a group of amazing people and see them flourish too, it's priceless.

Favourite sporting moment at Uni?

Either Varsity or Welcoming Freshers. Being able to help make people's time at university that bit better is amazing. And we have such a great community here, meeting and getting to know new people is the best.

How does participating in Sport positively affect your Mental Health?

It's the biggest contributor to helping my mental health. Joining a team is a commitment and means I have set times to get out, refresh, move and focus on something else apart from work (easier said than done, I know). Its harder to put off. I really wouldn't be without it!

What would you say to someone who might be interested in joining a sports team?

Go for it! I promise you won't regret it. There are so many different sports out there and there's going to be one that you love, even if it's not the first one you try. It's definitely daunting starting from the beginning, but improving is half the fun! If you're a bit nervous, team leaders are super friendly, we love new faces, and you can always bring a friend or let us know if you're feeling anxious
