Sports Awards - Nominations

Proud of the achievements your club/team has achieved this season?
Amazed by the sportsmanship and skill of a player in your team?
Know someone who has gone above and beyond to contribute to their Club or sport overall?
Then why not nominate them for a category within our GSU Sports awards?

There are so many deserving students, teams and clubs this season – it would be a huge shame if they didn’t get the recognition they deserved!

To nominate, all you have to do is to complete the form below.

That’s literally it. Make it convincing, include examples to show us the amazing things they have achieved and there’s a great chance your nominee will be shortlisted and in with a chance of winning the overall award!

You have until Friday 3rd April to get your nomination in, and there will be nomination landmark prizes along the way – and if you have any questions, please don’t be afraid to ask! Email our Activities team at activities@gre.ac.uk.

 

Awards Categories

Club Development Award

Club Development Award is awarded to the club who have displayed strong aspects of:

  • Inclusivity
  • Progression
  • Growth through the year (whether this be in members or the experience)

 

Newcomer of the Year

This is awarded to the Team Greenwich newcomer who:

  • Has shown that they are proud to be part of their Club by getting involved in as much as possible
  • They are very passionate when participating in their sport (through performance, availability, personality)
  • Someone you couldn’t imagine not being in the Club, gets really involved, and is the biggest keeno!

 

Sportsperson of the Year

Sportsperson of the Year is awarded to the player who has:

  • Made an impact whilst playing with their performance (e.g. top goal scorer)
  • Would be ‘Player of the Match’ in the majority of games or Most Valuable Player
  • Stands out as being the best player on the pitch/court/playing field

 

Outstanding Contribution to Sport

This is awarded to a person who:

  • Has gone over and above for their Club
  • Has been an asset to Team Greenwich across the board, helping the wider sporting community outside of their Club

 

Team of the Year

Team of the Year is awarded to:

  • The individual team that have had the most successful year
  • Could be cup victories or league victories

 

Club of the Year

Club of the Year is awarded to the Club that has had the most successful year, consisting of many of the following:

  • Performance
  • Engagement
  • Team spirit
  • Membership
  • Committee Achievements
  • Extra activities (events, fundraising, social sport opportunities)

 

Club Outreach Award

Club Outreach Award is awarded to the Club deemed to have shown strong aspects of outreach which can include and is not limited to:

  • Inclusivity
  • Fundraising
  • Collaboration either internally or externally
