Ellie Tyrrell

Meet Ellie a third-year Business School student.

Say hello to Ellie our new #ProudtobeGRE profile!

What do you study?

I am in my final year studying Public Relations and Communications!

What attracted you to the University of Greenwich?

Other than the fact the building is absolutely beautiful & makes going to University a lot easier; Greenwich felt like a place of opportunity for me! I loved that I could be London based and have access to a wide variety of job opportunities, as well as enjoying a more intimate university campus feel amongst Greenwich.

What makes you Proud to be GRE?

As cheesy as it sounds, Greenwich has been a massive part of shaping who I am. I left sixth form feeling unsure of my capability and what I wanted to do in life; but through Societies, and particularly my involvement with the PR Fraternity - you are given an opportunity to make an impact at the University! The campus feel is so friendly and I’ve had some pretty funny memories at the Lower Deck with everyone.

Do you have any advice for new students starting?

My biggest advice is to get yourself involved in a Society at the beginning of the year - before you feel as though it’s too late and everyone has made their friendships!

I joined an Academic Society, which gave me huge insight into my industry but also enabled me to meet tons of new people across the different courses and in different years.

Now in third year, my social group is so mixed! You meet so many people different people in your years at Greenwich, through a mixture of nights out at the SU, library trips & coursework based projects - so don’t feel worried about making new friends!

What opportunities has The University of Greenwich given to you?

My course works hard on ensuring you make valuable contacts throughout your degree as well as having many leadership opportunities within the Students' Union and Business School!
