The are three main ways you raise money for your student group:

  1. Sale of membership, products or event tickets
  2. Funding i.e Activities Development Fund, Global Greenwich or University funding
  3. Fundraising

Once you have raised funds there are 3 ways in which you can get money paid into your account.

Important - Cash Handling

GSU is a cashless organisation, this means we cannot accept payments in cash to student group accounts. Avoid accepting cash, and instead opt for ticketing through greenwichsu.co.uk

Method 1: Creating online products, tickets, and memberships on the GSU website

When creating a ticket or product on our website, any sales will go directly into your student group account. To set up a ticket or product, contact activities@greenwich.ac.uk with your requirements and a member of the team will set this up on the appropriate event page for you.

Method 2: Bank Transfer to the Students Union

We know that sometimes you may sell tickets on an external website, or all transfer a committee member for the cost of organising something. All these funds have to be put into your society, no committee should be keeping any society or club funds in their personal account.

You can directly transfer the funds into the Union Bank Account, and this will be put into your group account.

You must put the reference as your student group name.

To obtain the bank details for the Union, please email activities@gre.ac.uk

Method 3: GSU invoicing

If you have the promise of funding via the University or a sponsor/external supplier, GSU can invoice to raise the funds into your account. For this we need the following:

Name and Address to send invoice to

Proof of the authorised income (via email chain etc)

Purchase order from the supplier

Important - Card Readers

Student groups at GSU are not authorised to have their own card readers to collect funds from people. GSU has a supply of card readers that can be requested for on-site events by emailing activities@greenwich.ac.uk.Card readers may not be taken off-site so ensure you have booked a room through GSU before requesting a card reader.
