Last year, with just weeks to go until the first every Varsity between Greenwich and Southbank University, the global pandemic hit Britain and it was clearly unsafe to continue with a in-person Varsity event. A huge amount of training and planning had gone into the event and Greenwich was still able to run a fun day to celebrate the efforts of the teams.
This year, the 2021 Varsity launches as The Virtual Era to guarantee that it will go ahead this year in March.
Having spent a year committing to home workouts, virtual HIIT sessions, jogging around the local park and a huge amount of self-discipline not to order takeaway every night, we're ready for Varsity.
The Varsity competition is where two rival Universities go head to head to see who can best the other. Sport is usually at the forefront of the competition, but this year we've expanded out the offer to ensure as many students as possible can participate in the event.
Sports teams will be asked to nominate five team members to take part and represent their squad for the Team challenges as they go head to head with their opposition.

Individual challenges will allow for all students to use their unique skills to score points for their home institution. If you've been mastering fitness skills such as wall sits, hand stands, planks or press ups, then we encourage you to take a look at these challenges.
