A great reason to get involved with our volunteering week is the opportunity to get involved with the local community. As students often spend three years or more living within Greenwich, we think it would be great for students to give back to the community which has welcomed students so willingly. Giving back to the community also shows how appreciative you are of the area that you live in. Think of the time you spent in Greenwich Park during the warm summer season, won't it be more rewarding sitting there when the sun comes again knowing that you have done something to keep the park in tip-top shape.
You don’t need any prior skills or experience to take part and it is open to every one of our students at Greenwich.
Volunteering also looks great on your CV and to future employers. Getting involved with volunteering shows hard work, dedication and that you are driven by more than money. Volunteering as a great way of separating you from the rest!
This is a great way to meeting new people who are of like-minded nature. A good way to form new relationships and make friends for life! It is also a really good way to meet people from outside of the university setting, it is a networking opportunity that may also give you opportunities in the future.
You will be learning new skills during your time volunteering. These skills can be applied to future jobs, skills such as organisation and team building. These make you more desirable to employers. These skills can also be used out for work settings these can be important life skills.
This is also a great opportunity to gain real-world experience. A chance to get involved in a true working environment.
So get involved now and sign up to be a part of Student Volunteering Week. Move fast as there are limited places!
