Officer statement on safe spaces

It has come to the attention of the GSU Officer Team that a social media account has been posting some content about Greenwich students and student groups that we (and other students and groups) have found inappropriate. We feel that the tone of a particular post recently perpetuates unacceptable behaviours towards women.

We would like to clarify that this account is not affiliated with the University or Greenwich Students’ Union.

Greenwich Students’ Union is committed to providing spaces for all our members to enjoy their time at Greenwich, as well as providing a safe and supportive environment for student activity. We will continue to work with student representatives to ensure all of our activities and spaces are safe and accessible for all students, including extensive training for all of our representatives.

If you wish to join in the many SU run activism programs, please get in touch with us. You can also join one of our liberation groups such as the Feminism Society or the LGBTQ+ Society.

Greenwich Students’ Union has a clear Safe Space policy which governs our spaces and activity.

If you feel affected by the subjects shared online, please feel free to get into contact with our Advice team. Alternatively, you can contact Samaritans on 116 123.
