Purpose

To work alongside GSU staff to produce an inclusive, student-led programme of daytime and evening activity.   ?

Responsibilities

Welcome Programme Development

  • Actively participate in Monthly Welcome programme development meetings in May, June and July, providing student insights to shape our delivery for September 2025 across all sites
  • Assist in researching potential event ideas, venues and suppliers, ensuring activities align with budgetary constraints and safety regulations
  • Engage with students to gather feedback and suggestions for event improvements, actively incorporating student voices into the planning process
  • Attend meetings and workshops with the University to support the welcome experience

 

Event Support

  • Attend Welcome delivery training for student staff in August 2025
  • During Welcome, provide on-site assistance for events, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
  • Assist in managing event logistics such as set-up, registration, equipment distribution and clean-up.

Evaluation and Feedback

  • Contribute to the overall assessment of our Welcome programme, maintaining records of feedback and event performance to inform future delivery teams.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Requirements and skills

  • Current University of Greenwich student or University of Kent student studying at Medway, passionate about enhancing the student experience
  • Be available for monthly welcome programme development meetings on campus in June and July
  • Be available for Welcome programme delivery between 8th and 19th September as well as training in August 2025
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse student populations.
  • Creative mindset and innovative thinking, with a keen interest in event planning and management.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in event planning, promotion, administration or similar related areas is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required during the Welcome
