Greenwich Students’ Union and City St George’s Students’ Union are proud to announce an exciting new Varsity partnership commencing for the 25/26 season.

The teams will compete in a multi-day showpiece event held across both university sites at the start of 2026. The winner walking away with the Varsity trophy and bragging rights for the year.

Varsity has long played a special role in student life. Varsity fosters campus identity, strengthens friendships, and provides a platform for students to showcase their talents in a high energy and exciting environment. For many, Varsity is a defining university experience, and we are thrilled to be able to further grow this event together.

Both teams have faced each other multiple times across the past year with some exciting closely fought matches. Pitting these teams against each other in a Varsity spectacular will be an event to remember and one you won’t want to miss!

Team Greenwich

Based across Southeast London and Medway, Team Greenwich represents the University of Greenwich and has enjoyed a landmark year in BUCS and LUSL.

Team Greenwich climbed the BUCS league rankings thanks to significant victories in women's basketball, taekwondo, Hockey and and a LUSL cup for volleyball.

City St George’s

Based across Central and South London, from Clerkenwell to Tooting, City St George’s benefit from strong local partnerships that give students access to high-quality training grounds and sports facilities.

City St Georges celebrated a record number of wins this year, particularly in rugby, netball, and hockey. Their rugby union team earned a promotion and a conference cup after an intense season of well-fought matches, highlighting the university’s growing sports prowess.
