Two weeks ago, SUUG joined forces with the National Union of Students to support their nationwide 'Postgraduate Champions' campaign.
On April 19th, NUS are asking Students' Unions to lobby their MP's over the issue of postgraduate funding and moreover, urging unions to ask their local MPs to sign a checklist which outlines their support for postgraduate students. In order to become 'postgraduate champions', the MPs need to first tick the boxes next to the statements.
In addition to the lobby, NUS have made a similar checklist for University Vice-Chancellors to sign. We are happy to announce that the University of Greenwich's Vice-Chancellor, David J. Maguire signed the checklist last week.

SUUG's Vice President Education & Welfare, Dean Brander (pictured right) was delighted to recieve the support of the Vice-Chancellor: "I am happy that our Vice Chancellor has signed up to be a postgraduate champion. I believe that postgraduate qualifications provide students high-level skills for industry and I am pleased that David thinks the same. His support is most welcome by the students’ union and we will work together to remove barriers to postgraduate study as well as improve the postgraduate student experience at the University of Greenwich.”
If you are a current postgraduate student and have suggestions on how the current postgraduate funding model could be improved please email Dean Brander on d.brander@gre.ac.uk by 5pm this Friday (12th April).
UPDATE:
On April 19th, Nick Raynsford (MP for Greenwich and Woolwich) also pledged his support for the campaign by signing the postgraduate checklist.
