At GSU, we’re proud to have some of the most active, creative, and welcoming student societies around, and this month, they’ve really shown what student life at Greenwich is all about.

From cultural celebrations to charity drives and Halloween fun, October has been packed with events that brought our campuses together. Here’s a look at some of the amazing things our societies have been up to.

Celebrating Culture and Community

Bollywood Society and Asian Students Union kicked off the festive season with colourful Navratri Garba events, one at Greenwich and one at Medway! Over 100 students joined in to celebrate with music, dance, and Aarti, making it a truly vibrant start to the term.

Next came one of the biggest celebrations of the year – Diwali 2025! ✨
This time, the Hindu Society and Bollywood Society teamed up with Global Greenwich to host a massive Diwali that welcomed over 400 students. The evening featured beautiful performances, a traditional Puja, Diya painting, Rangoli, and more, spreading light, joy, and togetherness across campus.

Our Nepali Society wrapped up the festive season with their Dashain and Tihar Celebration, filling the Dreadnought Building with Nepali music, dance, and traditional Deusi Bhailo activities.

Giving Back and Making a Difference

The Islamic Society returned with their much-loved Charity Week (Week of Change), a time dedicated to fundraising, awareness, and community action. This year, they supported One Ummah, raising funds to help vulnerable communities around the world.

Halloween Fun Across Campuses

Spooky season was in full swing thanks to our creative societies! The Korean Society, Filipino Society, and Anime & Games Society hosted Halloween movie nights, game nights, and themed events that welcomed everyone from anime lovers to K-pop fans to celebrate the season together 👻

Societies Going the Extra Mile

We’re also shouting out some of the most active societies who’ve been consistently hosting events, staying engaged with GSU, and creating inclusive spaces for everyone:
