What are officers?

Greenwich Student Union runs for the students, so it must have student representatives. This is where our Officers come in!

Officers are elected student representatives who act on behalf of the student body, working full time to complete their campaign goals. They run and lead our Student Union, being trustees and directors of us as a charitable organisation. Officers are accountable to you, the student, and act in your best interest.

This year there are four remitted Officers to ensure our representatives tackle issues which concern the entire student experience. These include President, VP Activities and Communities, VP Inclusion and Wellbeing and VP Academic Representation each role overseeing a different element of life at Greenwich.

Upcoming election

We are looking for a new group of diverse, competent leaders to step into these Officer roles. If you’re interested in being the next leader of this organisation, representing student voice and creating change on campus, nominate yourself today!

Voting - Dos and Don’ts

Voting opens 9th February!

Our Officer Elections are swiftly approaching, and we want to give you the rundown of how to vote! It’s a simple process where you can make your mark and have your say. Yet, there are some best and bad practice. That’s why I’ve created a Dos and Don’ts list to follow when voting this election!

Dos!

  • Read all the manifestos to make an informed decision – Read through all the candidate campaigns to know what you’re voting for and what best represents your interests!
  • Vote at a designated voting point or in your own space – Vote wherever you feel most comfortable! If you need a helping hand, find a voting booth on campus or vote privately where you can make an individual decision.
  • Vote R.O.N (when necessary) – You have the choice to Re-Open Nominations and not to vote for any candidates if you feel there’s no good options.

Don’ts!

  • Pick your candidate purely from their picture – While someone’s campaign may be visually captivating, we are focused on the substance. Make sure you agree with a candidates’ campaign before selecting to vote for them!
  • Don’t let anyone sway your vote - Make your decision independent of other people’s influence. Don’t let anyone force you to select a certain candidate, especially if they attempt to take your device or shove a QR code in front or you.
  • Say no to bribery! -  Although those sweets may be tempting, don’t let anyone bribe you into a vote. Don’t exchange a gift for a vote.

Make sure your vote is yours!

Bribery and coercion are illegal as part of our election. If you feel a candidate or their team has acted inappropriately towards you when voting, please submit your evidence via our complaints form. If you feel you were coerced or forced into voting for a candidate and you would like to change your vote, please contact us elections@gre.ac.uk.

Use your democratic right this February and vote for your university journey!
