At Greenwich Students’ Union (GSU), we are proud to introduce the eight Liberation Chairs for this academic year. Elected by you, these roles are vital in ensuring that every student feels represented, valued, and supported during their time at the University of Greenwich.

Our Liberation Chairs are elected student staff members who represent specific student communities and focus on addressing unique challenges, advocating for change, and creating an inclusive environment for all.

Meet Your Liberation Chairs:

  • LGBTQ+ Chair 🌈 - Frankie 
    Advocates for LGBTQ+ students by fostering safe spaces and promoting acceptance and diversity.
  • Women’s Chair 👩‍🎓 - Maitreyi
    Focuses on equality, safety, and empowerment for women students, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Mature Students’ Chair 🎓 - Carmine Musto
    Supports students who come to university later in life, often with careers or families, helping them thrive at university.
  • Disabled Students’ Chair ♿ - Jessica Tuominen
    Champions accessibility and inclusion, working to break down barriers for disabled students.
  • Students of Colour Chair ✊🏽 - Jude Okechukwu Ugwu
    Amplifies the voices of students of colour, tackling racial inequality, and celebrating cultural diversity.
  • Commuter Students’ Chair 🚍 - Selvakrishna Ramakrishnan Kavitha
    Represents those traveling to campus, ensuring their unique needs and challenges are addressed.
  • Sustainability and Ethics Chair 🌍 - Saloni Rane
    Leads efforts for a more sustainable and ethical campus, inspiring students to make a difference.
  • Working Class Chair 💼 - Vishnu kumar Gupta
    Works to break down financial and societal barriers, advocating for equal opportunities for working-class students.

Why These Roles Matter:

Each Liberation Chair plays a critical role in enhancing student life by addressing issues that impact their respective communities. They ensure that every student has access to resources, opportunities, and a voice in decisions that affect them.

Through their initiatives and campaigns, these leaders not only represent their peers but also contribute to making GSU and the University of Greenwich a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive space for everyone.
