At GSU, we’re proud to spotlight students who bring positivity, courage, and determination into everything they do. This month, we’re excited to share the story of Violeta Batranciuc, a business management student whose journey at Greenwich is shaped by ambition, resilience, and a deep belief that small steps can create meaningful change.

Finding Her Path at Greenwich

Originally from Moldova, Violeta describes herself as an enthusiastic, optimistic person who believes that passion and hard work can open any door. From a young age, she dreamed of creating and running her own business, “my own little empire”, as she calls it, which inspired her to pursue business management at the University of Greenwich.

Her journey began with excitement, curiosity, and a genuine desire to make the most of student life. Violeta didn’t want university to be only about textbooks; she wanted it to be about people learning from their stories, experiences, and cultures. That mindset has shaped her time at Greenwich ever since.

Growing Through Leadership & Community

Violeta is someone who isn’t afraid to take responsibility or advocate for others. Through her involvement with student communities and societies, she has discovered what leadership truly means: leading with kindness, respect, and authenticity.

She currently supports student life as the Event Coordinator for the Greenwich Arab Society, a role that has allowed her to help plan inclusive events, bring students together, and contribute to a welcoming campus environment. As an active member of multiple societies, she continues to learn from the people around her and strengthen the sense of community she values so deeply.

Her experiences at Greenwich have taught her how important it is to listen, understand different perspectives, and bring people together. She learnt that communication builds confidence, trust, and connection and that great leaders are the ones who uplift those around them.

Even though she hasn’t led a major campaign yet, Violeta believes that real change often begins with everyday actions: supporting classmates, motivating friends, including others, and bringing positive energy into shared spaces. These small but meaningful moments are where her leadership shines.

Strength in Challenges

Living and studying with ADHD and dyslexia has been one of Violeta’s biggest challenges. Staying focused can be difficult, and she often feels she must work twice as hard, but she refuses to give up.

Through mindfulness, meditation, exercise, and self-kindness, she has learnt to stay centred and patient with herself. She carries the quote “No rain, no flowers” as a reminder that growth often comes from struggle. Her journey has taught her resilience, self-belief, and the importance of celebrating every small victory.

For Violeta, success isn’t about awards; it’s about growth, courage, and consistency. She is proud of how far she’s come, and she continues to move forward with conviction.

Building Skills for the Future

At Greenwich, Violeta has developed skills she now uses daily from strategic thinking to communication and public speaking. She believes strongly in the power of words and the impact our voice can have. For her, public speaking is one of the most valuable tools anyone can develop, as it allows people to inspire, motivate, and spark action.

A Vision for Sustainability

Looking ahead, Violeta wants to continue her studies by pursuing a Master’s in Sustainability. Her dream is to work with NGOs and businesses on environmental projects, especially those that reduce CO₂ emissions and protect the planet.

One project close to her heart is Green Generation, an initiative she hopes to lead one day to encourage young people to live more consciously and make sustainable choices. She’s inspired by the belief that every action matters, echoing Mother Teresa’s quote:
“What we are trying to do may seem like a drop in the ocean, but without this drop, the ocean would be much smaller.”

Violeta wants to be that drop, learning, growing, and contributing to something bigger with purpose and passion.

Recognising Disability History Month

As we mark Disability History Month, Violeta’s story also reminds us why raising awareness and amplifying student experiences matters.
Living and studying with ADHD and dyslexia, she continues to show that disability is not a limitation, it’s a part of a much bigger story of resilience, strength, and courage.

By sharing her journey, Violeta hopes to encourage other students to seek support when they need it, speak kindly to themselves, and recognise that every step forward, big or small, is meaningful progress.

Her voice contributes to a wider movement across campus: celebrating disabled students, challenging stigma, and ensuring Greenwich remains a place where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.

GSU Celebrates Violeta

Violeta’s journey reflects what makes the Greenwich community so special: resilience, courage, compassion, and a determination to grow despite challenges. Students like her remind us that leadership doesn’t start with big stages or big titles; it starts with showing up, trying again, and believing in your potential.

We’re incredibly proud to feature Violeta Batranciuc in our GSU Student Stories series, and we can’t wait to see everything she accomplishes next.
