What Hari Has Been Working On

In his update, Hari shared that one of the highlights of his term was launching the “Hang Out with Hari” series. These sessions created relaxed and welcoming spaces for students to share feedback, raise concerns, and seek advice. Delivered alongside the GSU Advice Team, the sessions helped turn conversations into real-time support.

Hari also spoke about representing Medway students across Student Success Boards, Academic Councils, and wider university discussions. A strong focus was placed on employability and future readiness, including proposing the introduction of micro-credentials into courses and planning LinkedIn workshops to help students showcase their achievements and skills.

Community building has been central to Hari’s work. He shared that attending society meet-and-greets and cultural events helped strengthen connections between students and create a more vibrant campus atmosphere. Alongside this, he worked closely with the finance team to resolve student finance issues quickly and effectively.

Through the Affordable Living Campaign, Hari confirmed that more than 10 local Medway businesses are now offering exclusive student discounts, with a full discount guide set to launch next term. He also represented GSU beyond campus, including engagement in Parliament, ensuring Medway students’ voices are heard on issues such as unemployment and the international student White Paper.

Hari also updated us on progress around safety and wellbeing at Medway. The Medway Forum and officers’ safety campaign are moving forward, with a safety walk and collaborative actions planned with key stakeholders. In addition, he shared plans for the launch of The Green Den, a new sustainability and entrepreneurship hub opening at the end of January.

What This Means for Students

Hari’s update reflects a strong commitment to community, opportunity, and representation at Medway. As the new term approaches, students can be confident that their Medway Officer will continue to champion their voices, support their wellbeing, and help create a campus that feels connected and full of life.
