We are looking for a University of Greenwich student to assist the GSU's Marketing and Communications Team. If you want to make a genuine impact working for a not-for-profit organisation, tackling a variety of creative projects, this is a great opportunity for you.
We are looking for students who have demonstrated copyrighting and communication skills, but still need professional experience to kick-start their career. This position would allow you to learn and work on real projects, promoting our services, events, and activities. We are flexible and will always endeavour to ensure that your schedule works around your studies.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Student Designer supports the Designer and the Marketing and Communications team by producing visual artwork for a variety of outcomes and supporting project delivery. This role has a strong focus on developing technical skills.

Department: The Marketing and Communications Team
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and Communications
- Support day-to-day communications and marketing activities.
- Understand and adhere to the brand guidelines in all communication materials.
- Follow briefs to create a variety of creative outcomes for both print and digital.
- Assist with filming and editing promotional videos for GSU events.
- Occasionally assist with photography for campaigns and events.
- Assist with maintenance and development of website.
- Produce artwork for social media channels.
- Work closely with Membership Services, Full-time Officers and Commercial Services to ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.
- Adhere to deadlines and communicate effectively to manage expectations.
Administrative Duties
- Provide administrative support for the Designer as required.
- Maintain awareness of other organisations’ relevant activities, and of developments in the various relevant sectors.
- Attend appropriate training, events, conferences and meetings as required.
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities compatible with the level and nature of the post, as required by the Designer.
- Adhere to the GSU Constitution, policies and procedures at all times, including the Equality and Diversity Statement and the Health and Safety and Sustainability Policies.
- Contribute to the positive image of the SU with students, theUniversity, the local community and other relevant organisations.
General Responsibilities
- Represent and be an ambassador for GSU
- Be flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the position
- Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development
- Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practices

- Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individual organisations and or clients or staff and project data
- Any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post
Hours of work: 12 hours per week. Hours will be negotiable Monday-Friday usually between 9am and 5pm.
Location: Primarily based at Dreadnought Building, Greenwich with the option to work from home or at our other campuses.
Salary: £10.71 per hour paid fortnightly, plus per hour holiday pay.
