Founded in 2026, the Red Cross Society at the University of Greenwich is committed to strengthening humanitarian and public health engagement on campus. We aim to promote evidence‑based awareness on key health topics including mental health, infectious diseases, sexual and reproductive health, and healthy lifestyle behaviours, ensuring students have reliable information to support their wellbeing.
In line with Red Cross principles, our committee works to build a safer and more prepared university community. We organise regular first aid workshops, CPR awareness sessions, and basic emergency preparedness activities in collaboration with other societies, including the British Red Cross, helping students gain practical skills that can save lives.
We also encourage students to contribute to local wellbeing through meaningful volunteering. Our initiatives support efforts to reduce health inequalities, address social isolation, and strengthen community resilience across Greenwich and neighbouring areas. By sharing accessible information on vaccination, hygiene, chronic disease prevention, and everyday wellbeing, we aim to improve health literacy and empower students to make informed choices.
Above all, the society nurtures student leadership in humanitarian and public health action. Members have opportunities to plan campaigns, support events, and participate in service projects that reflect the Red Cross's commitment to humanity, compassion, and community support, both on campus and in the wider community.
