Welcome to the very first article of GSU Policy Corner!

I will be sharing insights on Government Policies and GSU to explore how our current climate impacts both. This blog at its core is about you, the student. Digging into how political decisions and what we do as a union directly impacts your world.

You might be wondering, who is behind this new blog?

Well, I’m Zoë Mann, a recent LSE BSc Politics graduate now working for GSU. I’m especially passionate about the Student Experience and making higher education truly accessible. At university, I was the Class Liberation Officer, representing Working-Class students on campus which is where I first started engaging in union work, focused on representation and making tangible change.

Now, I am the current Governance and Policy Coordinator working within the Voice and Representation Team at GSU. I work alongside our Officers and cover Elections, our Liberation groups and the GLOW Network – all things I will be writing about in this blog. I also have a particular focus on higher education policy and dissecting any new laws and changes that will affect you.

My love for politics, especially British policy, good or bad, is also another thing I will be commenting on. The decisions made by our leaders deeply impact us all, especially as students. Therefore, I will be breaking down often complex new policy into bite size chunks so you can understand what is means for you!

I hope these articles are digestible and equip you to know your rights and remain informed on all things policy and GSU related.
