Quality Students’ Unions (QSU) is run by the National Union of Students (NUS) and is a quality framework. We hope that QSU will show us what we can continue to improve on as we continue our work going forward.
Quality Students’ Unions is run by the National Union of Students (NUS) and is a quality framework. They describe the framework as a tool to “outline what good practice in students’ unions looks like across a number of themes covering their governance, leadership and management, their activities and their outcomes.” The framework recognises what Unions are doing well and areas for continued development and improvement for their members. Unions can pass or fail after assessment by an independent examiner.
QSU is the only quality model specifically for students’ unions. It sits alongside standards and codes that are also used within the student movement and the charities sector such as the students’ union good governance code, Green Impact and Investors in People.
The process of application to QSU involves a two-part submission, the first of which was started in 2019. Since then, NUS has updated their criteria and we’ve recently submitted an updated application. We are now working with QSU towards awarding taking place next year.
We’re proud of what we do at Greenwich and hope that QSU will show us what we can continue to improve on as we continue our work going forward.
