We want to make you think differently about coffee in Greenwich.
Change Coffee is run by Greenwich Students’ Union, the representative body for students at the University of Greenwich. In 2018, we moved into the Dreadnought building on the Greenwich campus. It was a new student hub featuring University and Union services.
We have history with Dreadnought building. From 1998 to 2014, it was the library on the Greenwich campus, and up until 2015 we ran a shop called Le Cafe in the room opposite Change Coffee. When we were given the opportunity to put a shop back into Dreadnought, we knew it needed to be different to Le Cafe, and offer something bolder and more unique than before.
We know there’s a lot of coffee in Greenwich - there’s a lot of choice. Our offer is local, independent, great quality AND great value. To find out more about our suppliers, click here.
As for the name...well, it’s definitely different! We ran a poll amongst students to choose the name out of three options, and make their own suggestions. One stood out from the crowd - the suggestion was made anonymously, so to whoever that was, thank you!
Our Full-time Officers and staff team agreed that this name represents what we do as a Union, and how we want our shop to be different than any other.
One of the Union’s goals is to empower students to change the world. Greenwich Students’ Union has made changes at the University to better the student experience, and we’ll keep making change to ensure that all of our members have a great time at Greenwich.
Having a funky coffee shop is one of those ways of creating change - literally!
As a Students’ Union outlet, it is part of a not-for-profit organisation. Money made through products sold in the coffee shop go back into the Union to provide services and activities for students at the University.
So, we hope you enjoy our space, our food and drink, and the experience.
