Autumn Elections 2019

We are holding elections for our five NUS Delegate roles and three Education and Health & Human Sciences Faculty Officers. All manifestos submitted are the views of the candidate and not of Greenwich Students' Union.

Education & Health Faculty Officer (3 places)

Education and Health & Human Sciences Faculty Officers represent students across the faculty in faculty level meetings throughout the year. They have a responsibility to listen and work with Programme Reps and the Students' Union to be the voice of students within the entire faculty.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and contribute to meetings
  • Student Council
  • Academic Council 
  • Faculty Board
  • Faculty-Student Experience Committee
  • Faculty Learning Quality Standards Committee (FLQSC)
  • Present to Faculty Forum meetings
  • Support Programme Representatives from your faculty in their roles and campaigns
  • Engage Programme Representatives and other students from your faculty to gather information and feedback 
  • This can be completed using a variety of methods including holding focus groups, drop-in sessions, surveys, and social media engagement tools.
  • Run a campaign around your manifesto points and Student Priorities 
  • This may be a joint campaign with other Faculty Officers or contributing specific outcomes to a Full-Time Officer priority campaign.

Person Specification (key skills and attributes):

  • To have good communication, time management, and leadership skills
  • To be a professional and responsible ambassador of the Students’ Union
  • Have a willingness to engage with students
  • To have the ability to work within a team

Support

  • Training provided during the Election period and at the beginning of your term as a Faculty Officer
  • Ongoing development opportunities throughout the year
  • Support full-time staff from the Students’ Union committed specifically to supporting Faculty Officers, and your Vice President Education is always there to help out
  • Your lecturers, Programme Reps, and other University staff will also assist you in achieving your duties.

NUS Delegate (5 places)

NUS Delegates represent the views of the University of Greenwich students at the National Union of Students National Conference in April. Delegates work at passing policy at the NUS conference in Liverpool and electing the NUS officers who work all year-round at representing its 7 million student members.

NUS Delegates represent the University of Greenwich students at the annual NUS National Conference. The purpose of the Conference is to:

  • Democratically debate motions and pass policy from students’ unions across the UK;
  • Hold current leadership to account for their work over the past year;
  • Discuss, amend, and approve policy reports from each of the NUS’ five ‘Zones’;
  • Adopt decisions made by each of the Nations, Student Sections, and Liberation Campaigns;
  • Elect and appoint people to various committees, trustee board, and student leadership positions;
  • Hold an AGM, receiving the annual report and accounts and approving the budget for the coming year.
  • This is a part-time, voluntary role for the from the 6th-8th April
