We Are the Animation Society!

Introduction

Hello animators, welcome to the page for the University of Greenwich Animation Society! As a newly made society, our goal is quite simple: we are here to teach, learn and engage with artists like ourselves. We aim to create an environment where animators and aspiring artists can work freely on their passions while engaging with fellow students who might share similar interests. Furthermore, our goal is to promote and engage artists that want to dive into the animation industry. 

A few of the activities that we would like to implement over the course of the year are the following:

• Sketch Sessions: this is a chance for artists to chat with other members of the society, while we give them challenges that pushes their creative boundaries. During these sessions, we will offer the members a chance to work on their concept art skills.
• Introduction to Animation Sessions: during these sessions, we aim for members to work on a few programs that animators use to realize their art. There will be introductions to programs such as Blender and Clip Studio. To those who are not new to animation, this can be a great way to further enhance their modelling and animation skills, as we aim to focus on different subjects as well, such as texturing, rigging, etc. 
• Members-Led Life Drawing Sessions: while this was a big goal of ours, we encourage students to go back to the basics and work on fundamentals, such as anatomy and values. The models will be clothed appropriately, and the society members will be able to work on subjects such as hands, faces, shadows and lights, as well as cloth-folds, etc.

     Meet the President of the Animation Society of 2022/2023: Francesca Adamo.

Hello Animation Enthusiasts! My name is Francesca, and i am a third year student.

I have always been passionate about the art revolving around the world of animation, and am fond particularly about subjects such as concept art, storytelling and 3d modelling. Being able to materialize something that is born out of one's own imagination is a talent to celebrate and share together, and I cannot wait to begin this journey with you all. See you all soon!

     Meet the Vice-President of the Animation Society of 2022/2023: Ariadni Katsanakou Papamali.

Hello Animators ! My name is Ariadni but you can call me Aria. I am a third year Animation student at University of Greenwich.

My journey started when I was 13 and from that day onwards I realised that this is what I am meant to do. I considered my self more of a Generalists because I try to know and be good in every part of the animation production process but if I should choose some of my favourite areas are secondary animations, 3D simulations (like hair, cloth, volumetric) and character design. I'm really happy to be a part of this society because I believe is an excellent way to learn new things and make new friends with similar neerdy minds. If you need anything feel free to slide in the soc DMs or even my personal ones. Hope I will see you all very soon!

     Meet the Treasurer of the Animation Society of 2022/2023: Brian Santamaria Espinosa.

Hey guys, my name is Brian (aka hardstuck silver and Lego enthusiast). I am a third year animation student and the very “qualified” treasurer.

When I’m not drowning in Uni deadlines, I’m working on becoming a 3D modeller and concept artist. I am a massive nerd for 3D software so if you ever have a problem and need some help just send me a DM, I’d be happy to help :p

Meet the Event Coordinator of the Animation Society of 2022/2023: Rosie Ando.

Hello, my name is Rosie. I am a third year Animation student and a former president of the Disney Society.

As you could imagine I am a huge fan of all types of animations, anime and video games. I am working towards becoming an environmental concept artist or 2D animator after finishing uni. I am looking forward to organising events for this society and meeting like-minded people who enjoy animation, drawing and art just as much as we do (the committee).
