Students Will Be Heard

Communication with Lecturers and Faculty

By forming regional working groups in Avery Hill, Greenwich, and Medway, we can hold semi-regular assemblies where representatives from each programme meet with staff through mediation, and address the best ways we can move forward.

Based on these talks, we can then continually adapt better means of communication, suiting students and staff, by promoting open conversation and teamwork, and opportunities to network with academics from a foundation of trust and understanding.

Student Support and Welfare

There is a rough £1,000 per student in tuition fees which is profit - it would cost only £444 to give students a free allowance of three hot meals a week for the academic year. Students in our university struggle to eat properly, myself and many others relying on food banks. This is not good enough - students shouldn't have to choose between going hungry or sacrificing education. We should be following the examples of others, providing a termly allowance to all students, which can be used in our cafes as and when we need to.

The bare minimum is students should be able to meet our basic needs. When over £1million is spent on looks, whilst students struggle to access food and housing, change must happen.

Greater organization of the wellbeing service is priority. Too many times have I heard students in crisis struggle to get adequate or timely support. There is a dire need to reform student wellbeing, putting student voice at the heart of these changes. Through mediation and reorganization, we will create a pro-active service for everyone.

Jobs for Students

There are opportunities for the university to provide more part-time, flexible work options for students. By restricting outsourcing, these roles can be re-allocated to students. We need more chance for skillset development - what else is university for, if not this? We can train students to train others through a skillsharing culture.
