About varsity

Varsity. The biggest sporting event of the year. For many of you, this might be your first Varsity, so here’s what you can expect.

Team Greenwich and Team South Bank will compete again in a series of fixtures for the title of Varsity Champions.

There will be indoor and outdoor matches, recreational sport and activities, food and drinks and of course an after party!

Avery Hill Campus

Avery Hill is the home of Team Greenwich. The £1.7m multi-purpose, flood lit, all-weather pitches will host our festival of sport. There will be a variety of activity on campus throughout the day across the campus, including in The Dome, outdoor food and drink stalls and more! VArsity hangout

The Dome, Midday onwards

Open from midday, a space in The Dome dedicated to fun games and hanging out. Varsity Hangout is a great way to fill some time between matches and showcases.

You can enjoy the following:

Table Tennis, Pool, Air Hockey, Chess, Board Games and a fun E-Sports zone.

Grab your friends and come on down, everyone is welcome. A great way to get involved in the fun and games of Varsity.

Final

Join us this Varsity for our grande final "Team Greenwich vs Team South Bank, Mens Rugby" hosted at Blackheath Sports Club (The Rectory Field, Charlton Road, SE3 8SR). Cheer on your team, enjoy and get into the full Varsity spirit.

Get to the game with ease with our shuttle buses. We have added an extra stop to ensure people are able to get to the game, and you can get that same bus to our After Party at Lower Deck (see below for more information) after the game.

After Party

Let’s send Varsity 2024 out with a bang!

We will be taking over Wavey Wednesday at the Lower Deck for the night to celebrate Varsity and all of the great activity from the day.

Transport

Check out the University of Greenwich’s bus schedule for shuttle bus times between Greenwich and Avery Hill campus. There will be an extra stop at Blackheath RFC for our Varsity final, as well as extra buses in the evening to get you to the After party!
