Leading change to reveal new possibilities.
During the pandemic, employed and self-employed had furlough and businesses had bounce back loans and grants. What was there for students?
-Hard time, really hard time.
How can students have better student experience and opportunities?
-By electing a right candidate who can lobby student interest.
Here is what I will work on:
- Building student- alumni network
- Pairing students with alumni to help students build a network and enhance graduate/internship opportunities.
- Monthly networking event to meet recent graduates and alumni for mentorship and guidance.
The bedrock of top-tier universities is their strong alumni and student network as alumni can put students on the right doorstep.
- More value for money
- More financial help especially for students who don’t qualify for merit or need based funds and internationals.
- Increasing the availability of funds in the student hardship fund and making it accessible to all students regardless of their nationality.
- Providing additional funding and resources to societies to carry out events and activities.
University fees are skyrocketing. Any financial support will be a safety-net for students.
- Improving facilities and provisions
- Installing temporary water fountains/hydrating stations in all buildings on every different floor.
- Provision for extended teaching support hours during assignment and examination period.
- Provision of mental health EC for students during the period of clustered deadlines without need for additional evidence.
The best university experience comes through provisions and facilities. Any other provision will be considered as per the requests from the student.
- Promoting diversity and inclusion
- Ensuring all key festivals of different communities are celebrated by organising events and festive sessions.
- Diversity and inclusion awareness training for students by promoting cultural awareness through a subcultural fashion show.
The healthy way of building a good bond is cultural awareness and diversity is the greatest asset of UoG.
- Reinstating the legacy work
- The predecessors in this position have done legendary work for students. I will be continuing their landmark work and support plans they had for GSU.
The great outcomes are achieved through perseverance.
