I want to help us be seen

I've had invisible illness and disabilities for the majority of my life and have faced numerous issues because of this. I've encountered these issues at university too. I've been told throughout my life that there is nothing wrong with me because I "look ok" and therefore have gone without adequate adjustments and support.  Sadly, lack of support and lack of adjustment is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to issues that disabled students face, whether they have invisible disabilities or more obvious ones. I know plenty of other students how have faced similar experiences themselves and I think it is about time things changed for the better.

I would love to get involved and help raise more awareness, not only for invisible disabilities but, for all disabled students. There are nowhere near enough resources or adjustments available for disabled students as a whole and I would love to be part of a team working towards rectifying that. The attitudes towards those with disabilities need to change drastically too and there needs to be a greater awareness and openness about us out there.
