Candidate for the position of Education & Health Faculty Officer

Sumaiya Jannat

Only dead people never get stressed.

Having lived in four countries and working with people from different ethnicities has broadened my understanding of individual needs. I believe in helping and working together to reach a common goal whether it is arranging study groups to motivate current students or taking a mindful cup of tea with your fellow mates to destress. I was the group representative for two consecutive years in my previous college. Therefore I have an experience in conflict resolution and also voicing the opinions of students in a respectful and polite manner which makes a different in the lives of the students. I believe in mindfulness which means bringing awareness to the present and not escaping to avoid problems and assignment due dates. Moreover, my friends always come to me when they need to emotionally destress. I cannot promise to solve all your problems but what I can do is listen to you and work with you so that you find a solution that best suits your needs; sometimes the answer is deep within us but we just need that gentle push to get back on our feet.

In conclusion, there is a need within me  to nurture; a need to  reach out to people from all form of lives and a need to touch their hearts with gentleness and care. Through assisting others my need is nourished. If the need is not fed then it leaves my soul feeling incomplete and unfulfilled.’’
