Your Future is Our Future

If I were elected to be a Faculty Officer, I would go above and beyond to represent my coursemates and faculty, along with everyone else at our amazing university because of my commitment and determination. This university and everyone in it deserve the absolute best, and I promise to give it my all. Hell, I’ve already given it a few teeth through a less than successful hockey match. I know I can take anything the University of Greenwich can throw at me (hopefully figuratively rather than physically).

As a Faculty Officer, a major change I’d like to make is giving my fellow students a say in the hiring process of new professors. When a new staffing position is receiving applications, we should be allowed to voice our opinions, and say what we expect from a new incoming teacher.

I would also like to ensure the election of new student representatives every year for each course within the faculty. As students, we are very different when we enter university as first years and when we leave at graduation in third year. We change so much in that time, and we should be allowed to have a say in that change and elect new reps a time goes on.

One of the most important things for me personally is creating more of welcome space for international students, on all campuses. While International Welcome Week exists, it does not do enough to help the new students arriving from all around the world to settle in. I want to create more events during that week and throughout the year to help those students find a new home in the UK, in London, and most importantly, at Greenwich.

Thank you, and I hope to represent you in the 2019-2020 year!
