MAKE GREENWICH GREAT AGAIN!

 

HEY GUYS,

I'M MELANI, YOUR CURRENT AVERY HILL CAMPUS OFFICER & I AM STEPPING UP THE GAME BY RUNNUNG FOR THE 2019 GSU FULL-TIME ELECTIONS!

When it comes to this role, I believe experience is key and for my 5 YEARS IN GREENWICH:

  • I did a year internship for the Business School Marketing team;

  • Worked as a Student Ambassador;

  • Worked as a Resident Assistant in Avery Hill student halls;

  • Worked in the Business School Employability Office;

  • Worked in Sparrows bar;

  • Worked in the Avery Hill Village Shop;

  • Participated in the Model United Nations and Balkan Society;

  • Did both an Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree.

I have this 360-degree view of university life and know all its flaws, areas that need I have this 360-degree view of university life and know all its flaws, areas that need improvement, the people I need to reach out to, in order to make things move forward.

IMPROVING STUDENTS' MENTAL HEALTH:

  • If elected, I will ensure that there is MORE COUNCELLING SUPPORT for students and appointments are given in 3 DAYS NOT 3 WEEKS!

  • Change to the progress assessment board for Nursing, Paramedic Science and Midwifery students to HELP THEM MANAGE PLACEMENTS & STUDIES better!

  • Review the deadline submission system & ENABLE STUDENTS TO SUBMIT COURSEWORK 1-2 WEEKS LATER with only 10-15% grade cap, for reasons that cannot be excused by an EC claim! 

  • No one should have 2-3 DEADLINES IN THE SAME WEEK, especially when academics constantly delay feedback on submitted coursework!

AVERY HILL, MEDWAY & BATHWAY:

I say these campuses deserve MORE LOVING and further improvements in:

  • BUS TIMETABLES;

  • SOCIAL & LEARNING SPACES;

  • BETTER COHESION WITH OTHER CAMPUSES; 

  • MORE SU PRESENCE.

If elected, I will ensure the university works on these aspects.
