LAURA PLA RAMIREZ

Heya! I'm Laura, and I am a first-year programme rep, but more importantly, I'm a single mum of two beautiful little girls! Coming to University should be an excellent experience for all, but unfortunately, we still face barriers to Higher Education that put a restriction on those of us who have parent or carer responsibilities. 

Being a rep has given me the opportunity to work closely and liaise the Students' Unions full-time officers to start looking into bringing childcare facilities back to campus. Has been a great opportunity, but I want to become your Business Faculty officer so that I will sit on the relevant faculty meetings, such as Faculty Student Experience Committee and the Faculty Learning Quality and Standards Committee to represent you.

Lecture Capture Technology (Panopto)

The University is currently putting measurements in place for recording all the lectures to become mandatory. With this system soon implemented, I want to see through that Panopto will be a well-functioning work tool for students. That will help us to change our student experience and for our education to become more accessible, without affecting our performance.

PPD (Professional, Personal Development) as Business School students we know too well how vital our employability skills are. The current course should tailor this more specifically to real-life examples. I want to work on;

• Having more mock assessment centres and interviews available

• Create more workshops to be available throughout the year

• Have more training around how to network and create a network (Professional networking doesn't come naturally to everyone!)

• To be a more productive course overall.
