Because things for women are complicated enough.
Hey, I’m Hannah and I’d love to be your Women’s Officer to continue the amazing work the SUUG is doing and make their campaigns even more inclusive and proactive! I promise to encourage and support female students to get involved with decision making at all levels of the University. I will fight to make our voices properly represented and heard, create a safe and welcoming campus.
If I were to be elected I would arrange socials and discussions to engage and empower females. I want to make our Women’s Campaign inclusive, intersectional and for all the women at the university. Together we can celebrate women’s achievements in male dominated arenas today by inviting motivational female speakers to come and share their experiences.
During my time at the university I have been a victim of sexual harassment, after being in that position I sought to prioritise a new campaign to re-establish that the SU has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment. I myself did not know where to turn to access the help that is available when faced with such a situation. Therefore, I would like to create a ‘Report Button’ on all of the university computer homepages, providing a direct link to the Union’s Advice Service, who will deal with the complaint. The button link will also provide advice in what to do in an immediate situation and alternative contacts that can help.
I also believe it is important that we are actively involved in working with the NUS Women’s campaign so that as Women’s officer I can delegate the information from their conferences and events to you lovely ladies.
Thanks for reading my manifesto!
