MIA AXTELL

Hello! My name is Mia, I am in my final year of Computer Science. I started my degree in 2014 and have been involved with Students Union many times during that period. In my second year I worked as a member of the bar staff and also assisted in the elections that year as a campaign member. Since starting my degree I became involved as Programme Representative in my second year, and have resumed the role this year also. I have also been involved as a CIS Mentor for the same periods.

Having been involved as a Programme Rep I have grown accustomed to hearing my peer’s opinions and making sure that these are reflected appropriately in the course review meetings. I believe that I will be able to transfer these skills into this role and make sure that the student’s views are represented effectively in the student council and faculty meetings. I have begun to see change within my Programme as a response to the course review meetings that I have been involved in and I hope to carry this forward into the Faculty Officer role and bring about the change that you want in your faculty

If I am successful in this election I want to help you make sure that you feel your voice is being heard and your points are being taken on board by our faculty. I am aware of some of the issues the computing students face, however I am interested to see what issues the other courses have. This is all about making your learning experience at university as positive as possible and I would very much like to be a contributor to that. I want to see change implemented and for you to feel like your voice is heard and can make a difference.
