My manifesto may seem a little different to other representatives for undergraduate students. As a PhD student running for Postgraduate and Part-time Students' Officer, I won’t be able to tell you what I can actively change during this post. Completing a postgraduate degree or studying part-time for a degree is a hugely different experience to a full-time undergraduate degree. It is not only different in mode of study for each, individual student, but expectations, needs and priorities fall under completely different categories for every student. However, I can ensure that if I were elected, I would be able to better engage with postgraduate and part-time students, including University members completing PhD study, to better their experience, report their concerns and support them in their academic careers at Greenwich.

I have been studying full-time for my PhD for the previous two years and I have recently changed to part-time study to develop my résumé as a visiting lecturer at Greenwich and Westminster University and to further my academic achievements and skills. With these experiences, I am better able to relate to postgraduate and part-time students, understanding their commitments, requirements and concerns.

I know the university very well having completed my undergraduate degree here, during which I was actively engaged with Student Voice as a Student Representative and working as a member of the Student Voice team. As a PhD student, I have continued this passion as a representative for my department and engaged in the organisation of postgraduate conferences, support groups and discussions regarding policy. If elected, I would be able to continue working closely with the Students’ Union in the creation of a postgraduate research social space and act as a voice for the variety of postgraduate and part-time students across the University.
