Bio: Hello! My name is Aamina, and I’m a final year Psychology student running to be your next Students’ Union President. Throughout my time at Greenwich, I’ve been involved in student leadership and representation, as a society president, academic representative and through working in the university libraries for two years. These experiences have shown me just how important it is for students to feel heard, informed and empowered to make choices about their university experience. I’m running to ensure every student has a voice and the ability to make informed choices about the issues that affect them.
Accountability in Action
- Establishing clearer and easier methods for students to raise concerns, including knowing where to go and what happens after an issue is raised.
- Strengthening the role of academic reps and societies as representatives, so student concerns are gathered and communicated effectively.
- Using recurring student feedback to help shape the Students’ Union’s priorities and planning.
Access to Study & Support
- Improving access to study spaces across campus, particularly during busy periods.
- Making academic support and skills workshops easier to find and access, so students know where to go for help.
- Improving access to multi-faith spaces, with a focus on location and capacity between classes.
Pathways to Opportunities
- Improving the visibility of academic, leadership, and development opportunities, so students are not discovering them by chance.
- Widening participation in opportunities for students who may feel less confident or less involved, ensuring they feel encouraged to take part.
- Providing consistent, hands-on support for societies and student-led initiatives throughout the year, not just at the start of term.
