Hello, Fellow Students!

I’m Md Saif Mollah Chanchol, a second-year Computer Science student, I am running to be your next Student Union Officer. As an International student and a member of the Greenwich Bangladeshi Society, I understand the challenges we face and the opportunities we can create together. 

My Vision for a Better Student Life

To create a more inclusive and student-focused university where your voices are valued, I aim to set up a Students' Union dedicated to enhancing every student's experience at the university, advocating for your needs, and creating a home away from home for everyone. My goal is to ensure that every student at the University of Greenwich feels heard, supported, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.

My Commitments to You

1. More Comprehensive Student Support & Wellbeing

• Broader mental health support and student assistance programs should be provided for students’ emerging needs.
• Improve International student workshops and cultural programs to promote diversity.
• Lobby for better access to study resources and Introduce peer mentoring programs.

2. More Placement and Job Opportunities

• Collaborate with the Careers and Employability team to run tailored career fairs and skill-building sessions.
• Partner with local companies, businesses, and alumni to provide more internships and placements for students from all faculties.

3. Better Academic Timetable

• Advocate for a more student-friendly timetable system that minimizes long gaps between classes, reduces clashes, and gives students more time to focus on studies, part-time work, and extracurricular activities.
• Effective scheduling should be the focal point so that educational quality is not compromised.

4. Enhanced University Website

• Simplify and modernize the university website for easier navigation, mobile accessibility, and up-to-date information.
• Introduce an app for personalized student dashboards to track deadlines, timetables, and announcements in one place

5. Sustainability on Campus

• Collaborate with the university to reduce its carbon footprint and transition to renewable energy sources.
• Plan and facilitate campus clean-up activities while raising awareness on environmental matters.

6. Affordable Student Living

• Campaign for more affordable university accommodation options and better support for students facing financial difficulties.

7. More Study Spaces Across All Campuses

• I will work closely with the university to create more study areas on each of the three campuses so that students always have a convenient and quiet place to focus on their studies.

• As the Secretary of the Greenwich Bangladeshi Society, I have arranged events, built strong networks, and led initiatives that made an impact. I will use this experience to bring real change to student life.
