About Me
My name is Syeda Rida Fatima, and I am a second-year Business Management student with a strong commitment to student advocacy, leadership, and positive change.
As a student representative for my program, I have actively listened to my peers, raised faculty concerns, and worked toward solutions. Now, I am ready to commit to the next level by advocating for all students at Greenwich.
Throughout my time at Greenwich, I have engaged with various student communities and understand the challenges we face, from financial pressures and academic concerns to mental health and student engagement. My studies in Business Management have equipped me with strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills that I will apply to drive meaningful change within the Students’ Union.
I believe that the university experience should be enriching, inclusive, and supportive. If elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that every student feels heard, valued, and empowered.
My Key Priorities
1️⃣ Enhancing Student Affordability & Financial Support
The rising cost of living is a major concern for many students, and I am committed to easing this burden. I will work to secure lower food prices on campus and advocate for the introduction of affordable meal plans.
2️⃣ Strengthening Mental Health & Wellbeing Services
Mental health is just as important as academic success, yet many students face long waiting times for support. I will campaign for faster access to university mental health services, ensuring that students receive timely and effective care. To promote a healthier campus environment, I will introduce “Wellbeing Wednedays”, offering stress-relief activities, relaxation spaces, and professional wellness workshops. Furthermore, I will advocate for the establishment of a 24/7 mental health support chat, allowing students to access assistance whenever they need it.
3️⃣ Improving Academic Support & Career Development
Every student deserves the resources and support needed to excel academically and prepare for their future careers. I will push for improved hybrid learning options, ensuring that all students, regardless of their circumstances—have access to high-quality educational materials. To foster peer collaboration and knowledge sharing, I will establish a peer mentoring program, enabling students to support and learn from one another. Moreover, I will strengthen partnerships with businesses and alumni networks to expand internship and job opportunities, helping students build valuable connections and gain real-world experience.
4️⃣ Creating a More Inclusive & Engaging Student Community
University is not just about academics it’s also about personal growth, networking, and cultural experiences. I will work to expand and enhance student events, networking opportunities, and cultural celebrations, ensuring that all students feel a sense of belonging at Greenwich. Additionally, I will improve funding and resources for student societies, sports teams, and extracurricular activities, making it easier for students to pursue their passions and interests. To further bridge the gap between students and industry professionals, I will introduce regular networking events and career panels, providing students with insights, mentorship, and career opportunities.
