I am Abdur Rahman, a third-year BSc (Hons) Computer Science student at the University of Greenwich, and I am thrilled to stand for the GSU Officer position. Here's a glimpse of my journey:

  • Enquiry Management Assistant, providing vital support to prospective students during their admissions journey.
  • Currently serving as a UK Student Recruitment Ambassador, guiding both local and international students through the application process, including outreach visits to schools and colleges.
  • Student Ambassador, collaborating with various university teams including IT, Welcome Team, International Team, and Student Centre.
  • Volunteered in a Focus Group for the Digital Student Centre launch.
  • Received a scholarship for a summer course in the Czech Republic last year.
  • Ran two different societies for the past three years: Bangladeshi Society (serving as President) and Computer Technology Society (serving as Vice President).
  • Programme Representative for Year 3.
  • Nominated as the Unsung Hero Award from GSU last year.
  • Awarded the title of Best Senior Ambassador during the Clearing period in 2023.

What I Will Do:

Diverse Support System: Expand accessible services for all students, including tailored resources for international students, fostering a campus culture of respect and inclusivity. 

Empowered Student Voice: Establish regular forums for student voices and needs, ensuring that every individual feels valued and heard in our diverse community.  

Food Variety: Enhance on-campus food options for diverse preferences. 

Placement and Job Opportunities: Explore and create avenues for career placements and on-campus job facilities. 

Academic Support and Societies: Strengthen academic support while fostering and promoting academic societies for enriched learning experiences.
