My name is Bethany Howell and I want to be your next NUS Delegate for 2022/23.
I am a LLM International and Commercial Law student with a passion for politics and debating. I have been involved in campaigns being the voice for the voiceless.
I support everyone regardless of sex, gender, race, sexuality, HIV status, disabilities and any other ground that someone may be discriminated against. I am here to represent you.
My Experience
- Chair of the Student Council 2017-2018
- Programme Rep 2017-2022
- Vice-President / Events Co-ordinator - Amnesty International Society 2017-2019
- Events Co-ordinator - Law Society 2018-2019
- Faculty Officer for FLAS 2018-2019
- President of Mooting Society 2019-2020
- President of the Amicus ALJ Society 2021-2022
- Member - UK Youth Parliament 2015-2017
- Member - Young Essex Assembly 2015-2018
- Vice-Chair - Youth Strategy Group for Castle Point 2016-2018
My experience in the above roles has helped me to develop the confidence required to fight for what is right. I have been able to debate in the House of Commons on issues such as knife crime and mental health. The implementation of initiatives I have been involved in have changed young people’s lives.
I understand you have an opinion; I understand you want to be heard; I know I can be the person to deliver.
Supporting you
- Find me on all social media platforms/ campus - tell me your issues as a student
- Submit motions at the conference on your behalf
- Make things happen through meetings and petitioning
Aims
- End sexual violence occurring on our campuses
- Support liberation development
- Advocate for better mental health services on our campuses
I am confident in my ability to implement change having been previously democratically elected to represent my area on the UK Youth Parliament.
