Founded in 2026, the Red Cross Society at the University of Greenwich is committed to strengthening humanitarian and public health engagement on campus. We aim to promote evidence‑based awareness of key health topics, including mental health, infectious diseases, sexual and reproductive health, and healthy lifestyle behaviors, by signposting students to professional healthcare services and official verified resources. This ensures that students have access to reliable, trustworthy information that supports their overall well‑being.
In line with Red Cross principles, our committee is dedicated to fostering a safer and better‑prepared university community. We run regular first aid workshops, CPR awareness sessions, and basic emergency preparedness activities in collaboration with certified institutions, including the British Red Cross. These sessions equip students with practical, life‑saving skills that strengthen both personal and campus resilience. All training and skill‑building activities are delivered exclusively by qualified external instructors, such as certified Red Cross personnel, to ensure accuracy, safety, and high‑quality learning. This approach reflects our commitment to maintaining professional standards while empowering students with reliable, hands‑on humanitarian and public health knowledge.
We also encourage students to contribute to local well‑being through meaningful volunteering, humanitarian networking, and leadership opportunities. Our initiatives support efforts to reduce health inequalities, address social isolation, and strengthen community resilience across Greenwich and neighboring areas. By sharing accessible information on vaccination, hygiene, chronic disease prevention, and everyday well‑being, we aim to improve health literacy and empower students to make informed choices.
Overall, the society nurtures student leadership in humanitarian and public health action. Members have opportunities to plan campaigns, support events, and participate in service projects that reflect the Red Cross's commitment to humanity, compassion, and community support, both on campus and in the wider community.
