Presence of Preet means Greenwich will never retreat!
HI, I'M PREET & I'M READY TO BRING 'HEAT' TO THE STUDENT UNION! :)
Due to my passion of creating positive change as well as gaining leadership skills through ambassador roles, I believe I've got what it takes to implement changes requested by YOU!
If elected I will support student priorities by focusing on:
(1) ACADEMIC SUPPORT & COMMUNICATION BETWEEN TUTORS AND STUDENTS:
- Implementing 1-1 drop-in sessions with personal tutor for extra support around academic concerns and settling into university life
- Ensuring deadlines are spread out to give students enough time to work flexibly as well as tutors providing detailed and thorough feedback suggesting improvements for future coursework
- Consulting with programme reps and faculty officers to strengthen quality of teaching
- Highlighting university policies regarding staff email responses within specified working days
(2) SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES AND EMPLOYABILITY EVENTS:
- Running course/faculty based events increasing interaction between students
- Holding career and recruitment fairs where students can network with future employers increasing employability
- Highlighting resources available for part time jobs/internships e.g InfoHub, Jobs at Greenwich, BSEO opportunities etc
- Cross campus integrated social events working alongside 'GK Student Union' to attract Medway students
- Higher visibility of society events, ResLife events and Lower Deck
(3) IMPROVEMENTS ACROSS ALL 3 CAMPUSES:
- Enhancing studying facilities and equipment at Greenwich and Avery Hill
- Improving Dome at Avery Hill: Raising awareness of Gym and Sports facilities and creating a social atmosphere through ResLife events
- Providing cheaper food options at Avery Hill village shop e.g meal deal options
- Improving travel times for Medway students by implementing suitable bus times enabling them to interact with Greenwich/Avery Hill students (vice versa)
(4) MENTAL HEALTH/WELLBEING:
- Increasing funding for mental health & wellbeing services and reducing waiting times for counselling sessions
- Running mental health workshops to provide useful management tools and techniques
- Providing useful contact information and quick access to support if needed
