HI, I'M PREET & I'M READY TO BRING 'HEAT' TO THE STUDENT UNION! :)

Due to my passion of creating positive change as well as gaining leadership skills through ambassador roles, I believe I've got what it takes to implement changes requested by YOU!

If elected I will support student priorities by focusing on:

(1) ACADEMIC SUPPORT & COMMUNICATION BETWEEN TUTORS AND STUDENTS:

  • Implementing 1-1 drop-in sessions with personal tutor for extra support around academic concerns and settling into university life
  • Ensuring deadlines are spread out to give students enough time to work flexibly as well as tutors providing detailed and thorough feedback suggesting improvements for future coursework
  • Consulting with programme reps and faculty officers to strengthen quality of teaching
  • Highlighting university policies regarding staff email responses within specified working days

(2) SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES AND EMPLOYABILITY EVENTS:

  • Running course/faculty based events increasing interaction between students 
  • Holding career and recruitment fairs where students can network with future employers increasing employability
  • Highlighting resources available for part time jobs/internships e.g InfoHub, Jobs at Greenwich, BSEO opportunities etc
  • Cross campus integrated social events working alongside 'GK Student Union' to attract Medway students 
  • Higher visibility of society events, ResLife events and Lower Deck

(3) IMPROVEMENTS ACROSS ALL 3 CAMPUSES:

  • Enhancing studying facilities and equipment at Greenwich and Avery Hill 
  • Improving Dome at Avery Hill: Raising awareness of Gym and Sports facilities and creating a social atmosphere through ResLife events 
  • Providing cheaper food options at Avery Hill village shop e.g meal deal options 
  • Improving travel times for Medway students by implementing suitable bus times enabling them to interact with Greenwich/Avery Hill students (vice versa)

(4) MENTAL HEALTH/WELLBEING:

  • Increasing funding for mental health & wellbeing services and reducing waiting times for counselling sessions
  • Running mental health workshops to provide useful management tools and techniques
  • Providing useful contact information and quick access to support if needed 

EXPERIENCE THAT WILL AID ME IN IMPLEMENTING STUDENT PRIORITIES:

  • Studied at Greenwich for 3 years and lived at Avery Hill
  • Active member of societies & regularly attend Lower Deck/Reslife events
  • Senior Student Ambassador (2017-2020)
  • Programme Representative (2019-2020) 
  • KPMG Brand Manager (2019-2020) 
  • Events & Communications Administrator (2019-2020)
