Our Advice Team believes you deserve to succeed and to feel proud to be black while doing so.

As young Black people engage more fully with social institutions, structural racism can be seen to increasingly impact their mental health. We know black students face their own unique set of challenges while at University. We offer free and confidential advice for all students on a variety of academic and non-academic issues.

Over the last academic year, our Advice Team has supported 260 students, who identified as BAME. BAME students reached out from all four Faculties with common enquiry areas being:

- Assistance with the Extenuating circumstances claims particularly as a result of the COVID lockdown.

- Progression around resits.

- Financial and family issues directly impacting on their ability to progress on their Programme of study.
