Sports & Societies Council

New for 2015-16, we are launching Team Greenwich Exec and Societies@Greenwich Exec, the new way that student groups can engage with the democracy and governance of the Union.

We know that not everyone will find attending monthly Councils useful, and not everyone may want to engage with the paperwork that the words 'democracy and governance' usually brings to mind. This is why we want to make being a part of change in the SU and University as easy as possible for you, and why we're forming new Exec Committees to better represent all of our student groups.

Team Greenwich Exec

Team Greenwich Executive Committee is made up of five elected representratives from our Team Greenwich sports clubs, who meet to help shape sports at Greenwich via policy and working with the VP Student Activities. Their terms in office are for one academic year, where they volunteer their time to attend Team Greenwich Exec meetings and sit on Student Council to represent the interests and opinions of all Team Greenwich sports clubs.

Team Greenwich Exec Responsibilities

  • To attend Student Council as a Sports Representative and represent all Team Greenwich sports clubs and their members.
  • To hold votes of approval for new sports clubs put forward in accordance with the Group Leaders Handbook.
  • To agree substantive changes to sports club constitutions.
  • To develop policy directly relating to student groups.
  • To work with the VPSA and Societies@Greenwich Exec to facilitate a Student Groups Forum at least once a year.
  • To develop and follow the Guiding Principles for the Team Greenwich Exec.
  • To receive a report from the Vice President Student Activities regarding current sanctions.
  • To suggest changes and additions to the Group Leaders Handbook.
  • To meet no less than six times a year, and at least twice per term.

All members of Team Greenwich sports clubs are eligible to run for this role.
